The Brief
Commando Training Centre Royal Marines (CTC RM) sought to rejuvenate their mess hall, transforming it into a more welcoming and comfortable environment for recruits during mealtimes. Working closely with Vivo, we supported the development of a comprehensive tender package, including detailed specifications and drawings, enabling the project to be successfully issued to tender.
The works were split into two separate packages, both of which we were awarded. One focused on the supply and installation of furniture, while the second covered enhancements to walls, flooring, signage and decorative finishes.
The Visualisation
To help our client fully understand and engage with the proposed design, we produced a series of mood boards and 3D visualisations that brought the concept to life. Drawing inspiration from the CTC RM’s branding, we carefully incorporated these elements into the design, ensuring the upgraded mess hall felt both contemporary and aligned with the site’s identity.
These visuals played a key role in communicating the vision and building confidence in the final design direction.
The Realisation
A succinct and carefully planned programme was essential to the success of this project. Flooring works and booth installations were completed during the Easter break, maximising progress while recruits were away on leave. The remaining works were carried out while the canteen remained operational, requiring our on-site team to maintain heightened vigilance around health and safety and to minimise disruption to both recruits and kitchen staff.
The completed mess hall now offers a far more welcoming and functional space, providing a significantly improved environment for recruits. We were delighted to hand the project back to the client and see the space immediately put to use.
