The Brief

We worked closely with the appointed contract administrator, who provided a detailed scope of works to transform a disused village primary school into a fully refurbished independent SEND school. Having previously collaborated with both the client and contract administrator on a school project in Chard, we were able to support the development of a robust and practical specification from the outset.

The scope of works included the extensive removal of asbestos, alongside significant upgrades to the building fabric and services. These improvements were essential to ensure the completed school met both Building Control requirements and OFSTED standards, enabling the client to open the school with confidence.

The Visualisation

Our design team produced detailed drawings and space plans to support the contract administrator, ensuring the proposed layout was practical, compliant, and appropriate for the needs of staff and students.

Alongside this, our commercial and project management teams worked collaboratively with the contract administrator to appoint the right specialist contractors, carefully managing costs and programme delivery to ensure the project remained on budget and on schedule.

The Realisation

The completed project saw the former primary school completely transformed into a welcoming, safe, and fit-for-purpose learning environment for its new students. While we are unable to share before-and-after imagery, the scale of the transformation was significant.

Following the successful completion of this project, we have since gone on to deliver a further three school projects for the same client, a testament to the strength of the partnership and the quality of the outcome.
