The Brief
We successfully tendered for Ysgol Gyfun Plasmawr School’s toilet refurbishment. The existing toilets had been condemned due to asbestos contamination, making their refurbishment both a health priority and a logistical challenge. This project required extensive asbestos removal, demolition, and the installation of both internal below-ground and external drainage systems.
The Visualisation
A key design feature of this project was the hand-wash fountains, which involved complex drainage specifications to ensure efficient water flow and durability. The fountains were sourced from a tender-specified supplier, with lengthy lead times that demanded meticulous scheduling. We collaborated closely with the supplier to align delivery and installation dates with our programme, ensuring smooth coordination between demolition, drainage installation, and final fit-out
The Realisation
Due to the time-sensitive nature of the project, we coordinated all aspects of the renovation to guarantee that the new facilities would be
operational by the start of the Spring Term. Health and safety was paramount, especially since the school remained open throughout the
construction period. We established secure work zones and implemented strict protocols to prevent any risk to students and staff, ensuring the area was fully safeguarded against unauthorised access.
The client was extremely pleased with both the quality of the finished toilets and the way in which the project was delivered, with the new facilities now providing a safe and reliable environment for daily use.
